About SteelRep
SteelRep is a strength training app built around one idea: most people fail to progress not because they lack effort, but because they lack structure. Programming is hard. Tracking is tedious. Knowing when to push and when to back off takes years to learn.
SteelRep removes those obstacles. Twenty built-in programs — covering strength, hypertrophy, powerlifting, and general fitness — each with automatic progression built in. You pick a program that matches where you are and what you want. The app tracks every set, calculates your next load, and keeps you moving forward. No spreadsheets. No guesswork.
The programs are designed to work for any lifter: beginner or advanced, gym or home, training for the first time or returning after injury. Several are free. None require you to already know what you are doing.

The person behind it
I have been under a barbell since I was 15. I am 47 now. In the time between I have competed in powerlifting, trained as a strongman, bodybuilder, and CrossFit athlete, and ridden road bikes long enough to know the difference between training hard and training smart.
I am a Level 3 personal trainer and a Les Mills instructor across three formats. I have been teaching Body Pump for over twelve years, Body Attack for over sixteen, and GRIT for over twelve. Each format is a different coaching challenge — GRIT in particular demands precision cuing under fatigue in ways that group barbell work does not. Between group formats and one-to-one programming, I have spent a long time learning what works in practice rather than just on paper.
I have had enough injuries of my own to specialise in rehabilitation training alongside strength coaching. When you have rebuilt a body from damage more than once, you stop treating recovery as optional.
I built SteelRep because the barrier to structured training is too high. Not physically — most people are capable of far more than they think. The barrier is psychological and logistical. Too many choices, too much noise, no clear starting point. People either do nothing or follow advice that was designed for competitive athletes and wonder why it does not work for them.
The blog exists to explain the reasoning behind the training. Every post is grounded in peer-reviewed research. I write about what the evidence actually says — not what sells supplements or generates clicks — because people who understand the why tend to stay consistent longer than people who just follow instructions.
